With very little, we can make a huge difference and be effectively altruistic!

The desire to leave a counterpart to the place where our raw materials come from and where such beautiful clothes are made led us to look for a Non-Profit Organization that was efficient, had absolute transparency and was not too large, as we believe that small Localized actions are often more effective . It was then that I met the founders of Kolkata Relief , the young Portuguese couple Catarina Aires and Tomás Magalhães (@despolariza) and I was instantly won over by their simple and tremendously effective ideas.

Kolkata Relief is a project that works in Kolkata on two fronts. An emergency, during the monsoons, which distributes " relief kits" to families living on the streets. The Kit is very cheap and simple. With just 5 Euros, we bought 1 plastic tarp, 1 mosquito net, 1 first aid kit, 1 kit of books for the children to learn to read. It seems very little, but these items make a huge immediate difference in the lives of these vulnerable families. Another part of the funds raised goes to community centers in favelas. There, children can spend the day;

  • learning to read and getting a healthy meal,
  • knowing more about social and emotional health,
  • and where women learn basic principles of hygiene,
    sexual and contraceptive education and
  • about their rights and the importance of having their children study.

Every educated woman and child is one more chance for an entire society to benefit and have less abuse and slave labor. We don't have to be rich to donate. We can be effectively altruistic by donating just 5 euros per month . Better to donate little and always, choosing projects that we are sure will work.

We contribute every month, with a tiny part of our brand revenue, but for these people it makes a huge difference. You can donate too, even if you live in another country and far from the immense inequality that exists in India.
