MY JOURNEY
"My love for crafts, and for everything that has a story, led me from an early age to travel the world and collect textiles, ethnic jewelry, objects. India, where I spent much of my life, and still visit every year, is profoundly rich in handmade products, and these are so varied and refined in their countless techniques. More than 15 years ago the brand started with cotton products, then transformed into a concept store called BAGAGEM STUDIO where travel stories were told and celebrated the art of handmade textiles around the world".
Today I remain a nomad at heart, and aneek w continues as a brand, but now small and exclusive. I like the idea of fitting into a "suitcase"...so I can follow my path, always transforming and embracing new ideas. The collections are small, with very low print runs , often just unique pieces , as the textiles are collected one by one, many of them made by hand, on manual looms. Each collection is unique and inspired by a journey.
Each piece carries within it the expression of the place it came from and who produced it, as well as the history of a technique that is often on the verge of disappearing.
Acquiring an outfit and having it forever in our wardrobe epitomizes my understanding of sustainability . When we consume in a considered way and with a sense of timeless value, we connect with a purpose . In addition to preserving ancestral techniques and along with it the community of artisans where it emerged, we value a culture .
I hope that we can put aside pressure from consumer society and the fashion industry, starting to consume with more purpose, materials that carry intrinsic value , that remind us of experiences we have had, of travel, and even of our childhood. telling a story that becomes ours.
